SnapChat is an Android app that lets you send quick messages to one or many people.
It's a great alternative to what used to be MMS: multimedia messages can be sent over a WiFi or cell data connection to either one or many friends or followers. What sets this app apart from similar ones is its peculiar "ten second policy". It allows the recipients of your message to see your photo messages for a maximum of ten seconds, and the app advertises that there's no way for recipients to permanently save your messages or view them for longer than that amount of time. That being said, there have been apps released over the years that have claimed to bypass this feature, so use caution.
SnapChat used to be only for pictures, but now it allows for text messages and even short video messages. As its funding and userbase have grown, its become easier to use, and it has always been completely free. It also links to other social media accounts, like Twitter and Facebook, so it's easy to get started.
